Lindab expands production in the Czech Republic
Lindab has decided to increase the production capacity within the Comfort Division in Karlovarska, near Prague, in the Czech Republic.
The decision to expand production by approximately 10,000 m² is based upon creating optimal Comfort production, as well as providing for an increase of activities within the Comfort area which, with its new product range, is showing a clear improvement in profits.
By moving Comfort production to a new building at the successful production unit in Karlovarska, the production within Air Duct Systems will also be made more efficient.
The new premises, which are located adjacent to Lindab's existing production unit, will be rented and existing machinery will be moved there, meaning that no noteworthy capital investments will be required. By centralising production in the Czech Republic, where costs are lower, the positive annual effect on profits is estimated to be around SEK 25 million by 2010.
"We are very pleased with the development in the Karlovarska unit, which was deployed in 2004," says CEO Kjell Åkesson. "The Comfort division, which manufactures systems and components for improved indoor climate, will be able to benefit from the know-how and experience that is already in place. At the same time, we are creating conditions for future profitability and expansion. With Prague as a hub, it will be easier to access the interesting Central and Eastern European market for these products," concludes Kjell Åkesson.
